Resendez Wins 5000 Meter Run

Tucson , AZ — The club took to the road again as they headed south to Tucson to run in the Willie Williams Classic hosted by the University of Arizona. Michelle Resendez continues her winning ways as she cruised to an easy win in the 5,000 meter run by almost 44 seconds, finishing in 18 minutes, 9.73 seconds. Deanna Adams had a season-best mark with a time of 22:49.59.

Brianna Spletstoser , Penny Tinker and Amaree Wright competed in a very competitive 1500 meter run. Brianna posted a 5:03.31 which was about 1 second shy of her season best. Penny finished in 5:28.22 while Amaree made her track debut crossing the line in a lifetime best of 5:37.66.

On the men’s side Au Nguyen took part in the 5000 meter run. His time of time of 17:02.82 establishes a club record.

AJ Jimenez and Joel Hartman put on spectacular finishing kicks to post season best marks in the 1500. AJ finished in 4:35.12 while Joel followed closely behind in 4:36.17.

Up next for the team is the Knight of Columbus Invitational hosted by Glendale Community College on Friday, March 23. The first event is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
