Clyde Resendez
Head Coach

Prior to starting Wingfoot Finish Racing Club, he spent twelve years coaching cross country and track programs at Grand Canyon University, Mesa College and Moon Valley High School.

Clyde has enjoyed success with his distance runners. He has had representation at the NJCAA National Championship Meet in each season and his first National Champion in the 2004 NJCAA Half Marathon Championships.

During his time at Grand Canyon University - a tenure that saw him direct the track and field team as well - Clyde coached some of the best California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) top cross country and track athletes. With only one year at the helm, 4 athletes received All-Conference honors in cross country and 5 in track. His coaching also produced 5 Conference Champions.

In his first year as assistant track and field coach of the distance squad at Moon Valley High School (in Phoenix, AZ), Clyde guided the 2000 Rockets to a stellar season. Every member of the team improved on his or her personal best. His distance runners earned a number of District and Regional championship and runners-up honors in individual events as well as qualifying for the State Championships.

Clyde began his running career at Sunnyside High School in Tucson where after a grueling period of development became an undefeated 3200m runner in his senior year. In the following two-year stint at Pima Community College, he earned All-Conference and All-Region honors in both track and cross country. He went on to compete at Northern Arizona University where his running continued to improve and by his second year received All-Conference honors in the 3000m Steeplechase with a personal best of 9:05.

His most recent contribution to the sport is the development of a computer program that enables cross country and track & field meet directors to collect entries online.

He works as a systems administrator for Maricopa Community College District. Clyde and Michelle have four young boys at home, Carlin, Cyler, Caden and Crewe.
